Available soon... Beautiful, personalised invitations from In The Shed

21st January 2015

There is something pretty magical about receiving a hand written letter or card in the post. In todays busy and immediate world it is a refreshing change to receive something more personal and so heartwarming when we appreciate the time and thought that has gone into buying, writing and sending. I have been creating invitations for many years, but over the past few it has started to play a large part of what I design. It would seem this sudden stream of invitation design could be due to reaching a certain point in ones life where ... Read More >>

Here comes the sun...

17th October 2014

As I sat back from my desk and closed my eyes, for a short moment I stopped everything I was doing and was transported to a special place as the song "Here Comes the Sun" played loudly for all outside to hear. As the intro leads into those words... "Little Darlin'...", a wave of emotion came over me as I watched vividly that moment my beautiful nieces have been getting excited about for months, as they step out to lead the way, adored by all, eagerly walking Boo down the ... Having worked with some lovely couples on their wedding stationery recently, I have witnessed the intensity of their last few ... Read More >>

So, what do a graphic designer's own wedding invitations look like?

14th March 2014

The past few months have been somewhat of a whirlwind and I think I was right to predict that this year may fly by rather quickly. Well I guess time flies when you are having fun, and as well as a very busy start to the year in the shed, I have also been a very busy bee planning my (sorry 'our') wedding. Over the past few months I have had the incredible challaenge of designing our wedding invitations... Those of you that know me well will appreciate how much energy ... Read More >>

The Bunting Gallery

18th November 2013

I would like to share with a very emotive story and venture that has really touched my heart recently.  Let me introduce you to Tim and Izabelle Bunting . . . Izabelle having fun printing bags for The Bunting Gallery and Tim with their two gorgeous puppies I met Izabelle at college when we were both studying art, and in all honesty we probably haven't seen each other since we left college some years back, and I actually have never met Tim. Of course the power of Facebook keeps us all connected, and recently ... Read More >>

Meet Boo!

9th October 2013

Hey everyone... meet Boo!  Many of you have met her already, and will know what a little character she is, but seeing as today we are celebrating her 1st birthday I thought I would officially introduce her to you all.  Boo is a smooth coat Chihuahua, who joined our family when she was just 9 weeks old back in December last year. As soon as we met her we knew she had a wonderful character and over the past 10 months she has just continued to grow more and more in to ... Read More >>

An inspring day...

17th September 2013

My head is still buzzing and I am feeling a renewed sense of motivation after the fantastic 2013 BizMums Conference and Awards that took place on Saturday.  Held at The Lord Hill in Shrewsbury, the day consisted of a series of inspiring and interesting speakers, a networking lunch, a collection of exhibitors and advisors, alongside several informal breaks to network. And of course the all important awards presentation.  The day was so much more than I had imagined, taking away with me a series of valuable 'learns' and positive emotions. Not a mum ... Long overdue thanks and a little shed envy

31st July 2013

Hello folks... it has been a little while I know. So whats new? Well as always, when I go a little quiet it's because I have been a little busy! New and existing clients have been keeping me anything from bored and I have barely had time to come up for air. So much so that the infamous 'Shed Week' came and went in the blink of an eye without even a drink or a BBQ in the garden to celebrate it. So after this glorious summer so far, I am sat ... More than just an ordinary shed...

14th May 2013

It's that time of year again when I get rather competitive in the quest for the title Shed of the Year!  Voting is well underway  and I am already starting to sound like a broken record as I campaign for your votes. I am absolutely thrilled to bits with how much support I have had so far.  As a previous finalist, I know I can get there again, but only with your support.  To most people, a shed is just a wooden structure at the bottom the garden filled with junk and a lawn ... For the Love of Sheds

1st May 2013

Shed with the Chandelier Over the past few weeks I have been giving the shed some well deserved TLC. As I have mentioned in my previous post, it is undergoing an exciting refurb and while it has been a long time in the making, it is a real labour or love! The vision is a clean, tidy and practical studio with its new desk and worktops and hidden storage. More importantly, it will be a cosy, beautiful and inspiring place to design, create and enjoy working in. In a few days time the Shed of the ... Read More >>

Bye Bye Pink Walls

15th April 2013

I am feeling very excited as I write this! After a long time of wanting and waiting, the shed is finally getting a new look. As well as a fresh new lick of paint, it is also being fitted out with some great new worktops and desk to give it a whole new lease of life.  One afternoon back in autumn, I was feeling fed up and uninspired of making do with random pieces of furniture, of seeing everything cluttered up on shelves and (I'm afraid to say) too much ... Thinking Differently?

11th October 2012

There is something that often intrigues me. When people hear I am dyslexic, what do they really think? When I first set up In The Shed, somebody told me I shouldn’t tell my clients that I am dyslexic. Why? Because it might put them off. Do people really see dyslexia in such a way that it could put them off?  The way I see it, dyslexia it’s just a small part of who I am. Just as I have brown eyes and am only 5’2” short, I am also dyslexic. I am ... Read More >>

I Have a Dream....

21st September 2012

It's easy to have ideas but not do anything with them. I'm an ideas person, a thinker, a dreamer, a believer. That's possibly when I'm most happy. That's when my ideas and beliefs are the most exciting, when I am creating them in the theatre of my mind. That's my sketchbook. I guess that's also where they are safe and protected. I am in control and they are just how I imagine them, not open to the elements - to criticism or the frustrations of reality.  But I am designer, a creative, ... Read More >>

Gracious Loser Face : (

13th June 2011

After the excitement of hearing about all the votes you submitted for In The Shed in recent weeks, I am putting into practice my gracious loser face at the reveal of this years finalists of 'Shed of the Year 2011'. This year the competition was tough and sadly In The Shed didn't make it through to the final.Honestly, at the time, perhaps it was a little more like the scene from Friends, when Joey fails to display his gracious loser face and loses his cool in front of the cameras. Fortunately, there ... Read More >>
